Parents know their children. They deserve real choices.
We believe parents should be able to choose an education that fits their child, their values, and their family's circumstances. Schools Within Reach helps Texas families understand their private school options and what those options could really cost.
Why parent choice matters to us
Children learn differently. Families have different priorities. A school that helps one child thrive may leave another needing something different. Parents deserve the freedom to explore those differences and make a thoughtful decision about their child's education.
That choice might be a neighborhood public school, a charter school, a private school, or learning at home. We respect the parents making those decisions. Our work focuses on making private school options in Texas easier to understand and compare.
We want more families to be able to consider an option on its merits, with a clear picture of the cost, the school environment, and the steps required to apply.
Choice needs clear information
A family needs more than a school name and a tuition figure. They need to understand required fees, financial aid, admissions requirements, learning support, and whether a school has room in the grade they need.
Finding those answers can take hours of searching and repeated calls. We are building Schools Within Reach to bring that information together, so parents can spend more time considering their options and less time tracking down the basics.
What we believe
- Parents make the decision. You know your child's needs and your family's priorities. Our job is to help you ask better questions and understand the answers.
- Affordability should be understandable. Families deserve a clear view of tuition, required fees, other expenses, and the assistance that may apply.
- School fit is personal. Educational approach, faith, class size, learning support, and daily life can all matter. A single ranking cannot decide those priorities for every family.
- Information should earn your trust. Sources, dates, and gaps belong beside the facts. When an answer is unknown, we will say so.
- Clear facts and clear commercial terms. We review school information against its sources. Paid listing options, profile services, and sponsored visibility will be described and identified so families can understand what they are seeing.
How we are building school profiles
Our profiles are designed around the questions families ask before applying. We use school websites, published tuition and fee schedules, and official program information as sources, and seek confirmation from schools directly. As profiles become available, information will carry a source, a date, and one of three labels:
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Verified | Confirmed directly with the school by phone or email. The date is shown. |
| School-reported | Stated by the school on its website or in a submission to us. Not yet independently confirmed. |
| Unknown | We couldn't find out or the school hasn't responded. Shown as a gap, not filled in. |
Costs, services, and seat availability can change. A profile will help you prepare for a conversation with a school; admissions and support arrangements still need to be confirmed with that school.
For Texas families
Schools Within Reach is focused on Texas. We want families to understand the options available to them, including how school financial aid and Texas Education Freedom Accounts may affect affordability. Funding is one part of the decision, alongside the child's needs, the family's values, and the school's ability to serve them.
Where we are right now
The free cost calculator is available now. The school directory and comparison tools are in development. Profiles will be published as their information is ready, with coverage growing over time.
If you're a parent, join the early access list and tell us where you're looking. If you represent a school, help us get your school's information right. You can also reach us at dan.sussman@schoolswithinreach.com.
