What would private school really cost your family?
Tuition is only part of the price. Enter a school's costs, choose an estimated funding amount, and see what may still come out of your pocket. No signup needed, and the numbers stay in your browser.
The questions to ask before you calculate
Tuition
Use the rate for your child's grade. If a school lists a monthly price, ask whether the payment plan runs 10 or 12 months.
Required school fees
Ask about application, registration, books, classroom supplies, technology, and activities. Some mandatory and instruction-related fees may be eligible for TEFA. Check each charge with the school.
Uniforms, food and getting there
Required uniforms, meals provided by the private school, and qualifying transportation can be eligible. Before- and after-school supervision and fundraising fees generally are not. Put costs that need confirmation in the uncertain category.
Funding and other aid
The illustrative standard 2026–27 TEFA private-school award is $10,474, but qualification and actual awards are not guaranteed. Students with qualifying IEPs may receive more. Ask the school whether its financial aid changes when a family receives TEFA. The next program year's amounts aren't confirmed here.
