What we collect, what we do with it, and how to reach a person.

The short version

• We collect the information you enter in our forms and the limited technical data described below.
• We don't use cookies or analytics tracking on this site right now.
• Early access signup is for updates from Schools Within Reach and does not authorize schools or providers to contact you.
• Form submissions are sent to our mailbox, and a private backup with delivery status is stored outside the public web folder.

Who we are

Schools Within Reach ("we," "us") operates schoolswithinreach.com. We're an independent company focused on Texas families. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of the State of Texas, the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, the Texas Education Freedom Accounts program, or any school.

What we collect, and why

Early access form (parents)

Email address and ZIP code (required); grade of interest and a short note about what matters to you (optional). We use this to tell you when school comparisons are available in your area, send occasional updates relevant to your school search, and ask what would help. Please do not include your child's name, date of birth, diagnoses, or other sensitive details. We do not need them.

School inquiry form (schools)

School name, your name, work email, city (required); role, phone, and a message (optional). We use this to work with you on your school's profile and respond to your inquiry.

Cost calculator

Figures you enter in the calculator stay in your browser. They are not sent to us or stored anywhere.

Technical information

Our hosting provider (Hostinger) keeps standard web server logs, which can include IP addresses, pages requested, browser type, and time of request. These are used for security and keeping the site running, and are retained according to the host's own policies. We do not add analytics tracking to those logs, and our form handler stores only a keyed hash of the submitting IP address for temporary rate limiting, not the raw address.

Cookies and analytics

This site currently sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. That's why you don't see a cookie banner: there's nothing to consent to. If we add a privacy-respecting analytics tool in the future, we'll update this page to say what it collects and whether it uses cookies.

How form submissions are handled and stored

When you submit a form, our server sends the contents to our mailbox over an encrypted connection. A backup copy with delivery status is written to a file outside the public web directory. The backup exists so that a mail delivery hiccup doesn't lose your message. Submission backups include the date and time, your form fields, and delivery status. A separate keyed IP hash limits spam.

Who we share it with

• Schools and educational providers: Early access signup does not authorize these organizations to contact you. If a future inquiry or introduction feature shares your details, it will identify the recipient, explain what will be shared, and request your permission before sending.
• Service providers: Our hosting and email provider processes data on our behalf to run the site and deliver mail. We don't use third-party marketing platforms at this time. If we adopt one to send updates, we'll name it here.
• Legal requirements: We'll disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of people using the site.
• Sale of the business: If Schools Within Reach is ever acquired, this information may transfer to the new owner, who will be bound by this policy or will notify you of changes.

We do not currently sell, rent, or trade personal information. If we introduce paid listings, sponsored features, or provider introductions, we will explain how those features work and how any personal information is used. New features do not change the permissions attached to an existing signup.

How long we keep it

• Early access signups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you, or until the early access list is retired, whichever comes first. When the full service launches, we'll ask whether you want to keep hearing from us.
• School inquiries: as long as we're working with your school on its profile, and up to 24 months after our last contact.
• Backup copies of submissions: deleted on the same schedule as the record they back up, reviewed at least quarterly.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe: every email we send includes a way to stop receiving them, or just reply and say so.
• See, correct, or delete: email dan.sussman@schoolswithinreach.com from the address you signed up with and tell us what you'd like. We'll confirm within 10 business days.
• Texas residents: under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act you may have rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal data, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. We don't sell data or run targeted ads, but the other rights work the same way: email us. If we decline a request, we'll tell you why and how to appeal.

Children

This website is for adults making decisions about children's schooling. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. We ask parents not to submit their children's names or personal details. If you believe a child has submitted information, email us and we'll remove it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Form data travels encrypted to our server and to our mailbox. Mailbox credentials are stored outside the public web folder. No system is perfectly secure, and we'll notify affected people if we learn of a breach involving their information, as the law requires.

Changes

We'll post updates here and change the date below. If a change meaningfully affects how we use information you've already given us, we'll email you first.
